Launched TypeDock and nothing happened?
That's the design working: TypeDock closed to the menu bar and kept running. Here's how the window, Dock icon, and login launch behave — and how to get the window back.
Get the window back
One action fixes this: launch TypeDock yourself. The app treats any launch you start as a request for the window.
Launch TypeDock yourself
Spotlight, a double-click in Applications, or a click on its Dock icon if one is showing — any of them counts. The window and the Dock icon come back together.
A missing Dock icon is normal
The Dock icon follows the window: visible while the main window is open, gone once it’s closed to the menu bar. A missing icon means a closed window, not a quit app.
Closing the window doesn’t quit
Closing the window doesn’t quit TypeDock; it closes it to the menu bar. From there it keeps capturing, expanding, and serving hotkeys — no window, no Dock icon — and it comes back the same way at login and after a restart. So a launch at login that shows nothing on screen has worked: the app is in the menu bar, already running.
Not sure it’s running? Press a hotkey
The menu-bar icon and every global shortcut work the whole time the window is closed. Press Quick Paste ⌃⌘V, the snippet picker ⌘⌥S, or the Cheat Sheet ⌘⌥Space — an answer means TypeDock never stopped.
Launch at login isn’t sticking
TypeDock has its own toggle, and macOS keeps its own list. Either place works.
Turn it on in TypeDock
SettingsGeneralStartup — switch on “Launch TypeDock at login”.

A window appeared at login
Normally a login launch stays in the menu bar. There’s one known exception.
The menu bar says “Enable system-wide expansion…”
TypeDock puts that item in the menu bar while a permission is missing. It isn’t a window problem — head to the Mac permissions guide to grant what’s missing.
